Melissa Foster

“…a wonderful connector of readers and books, a friend of authors, and a tireless advocate for women. She is the real deal.”

Melissa Foster

Website: www.MelissaFoster.com

Blog: www.MelissaFoster.com/blogs/melissa

Twitter: www.Twitter.com/Melissa_Foster

I connected with this inspiring lady the other night on Twitter after seeing a tweet about #WomensLitCafe, which is “an extension of the The Women’s Nest.  It’s an online community that bridges the gap between writers and readers with the sole mission of promoting great literature.  The WoMen’s Literary Café is ‘Where readers and authors unite!’

Bridging the gap between the vast community of readers and authors, the WoMen’s Lit Cafe offers helpful promotions to authors, reviewers, bloggers, and editors by creating that bridge to bring readers, authors, and author services together under one umbrella in an easily navigable venue.”

I was immediately intrigued because this is similar to my goals with my website/blog. I am always in support of women that make it their business to support other women who are making moves. She is a bestselling, award-winning author of three novels, Megan’s Way, Chasing Amanda, and Come Back to Me. She is also published in Indie Chicks: 25 Women 25 Personal Stories. She is even stepping into to film production withher book, Meghan’s Way. I am amazed at how she has time to write books, produce films, and yet, still dedicating time to support and encourage other women who do or trying to do what she does.

In the time that I have been in business, blogging, and riding the social media train, I have repeatedly seen an unsettling amount of cases where women are tearing each other down with snide comments or being so competitive to the point where they can’t find it in themselves to be supportive of one another. Now don’t get me wrong, in the world of business, thing are competitive and we ALL want to succeed, but it is extra refreshing to see someone like Melissa doing what she does. I am a believer that success follows those who want others to succeed.

I encourage any women who write or blog to join her community to support and be supported! I just joined today and will write updates on my experience on Women’s Literary Cafe.

“Enjoy each and every day. No one else will do it for you,” Melissa

Interior Design Blogs

Interior Design blogs are on the rise! Most mixing interior design, furniture, and even fashion, they are catching the attention of cities all over the world with their creative spin on home life inspiration.

Here are our favorite interior design blogs (in no particular order):

So Haute Style

 www.sohautestyle.com

(Nicole Gibbons)

New York City based blogger Nicole Gibbons brought to life So Haute Style in 2008. Influenced by her mom, an interior designer, Nicole was bitten by the design bug at an early age. The Entertaining section of her blog is possibly the cutest and most inspiring part of her blog, in my opinion. The section includes everything one needs to know for when throwing a swanky party: recipes, table-setting ideas, DIY floral designs, and even stationary. Her work has been featured on HGTV, ElleDecor.com, and The Nest, to name a few of several. In 2009, So Haute Style was named one of the best all-around home blogs. Her latest blog post featured fashion designer, Kelly Wearstler’s Malibu beach house. Totally fab!

It definitely shows with her amazing fan base and amount of content! You’ll find inspiring posts on decorating ideas, indie art and design, and fabulous interior spaces. She also features DIY (do it yourself) projects, store and home tours, book reviews, and trade show coverage. Not leaving her readers out of any of the knowledge that she has obtained over the years of being a blogger, she offers Blogging Your Way, an e-course. Holly is also a weekly columnist at Real Simple online. She has completed assignments for HGTV and HGTV Ideas Magazine as a style editor. Her 1st book, Decorate: 1000 Inspirational Ideas for Every Room in Your Home, is just the icing on the cake to a long list of accomplishments.
