Dress for Success: Fashion Business Girls

Professional dress does not mean looking frumpy. Image, especially in the fashion industry, is key. The important thing to remember is that YOU are the most important part of your brand as a fashion professional: fashion blogger, journalist, designer, buyer, store owner, public relations expert, etc. As a professional of the fashion world, as your image IS your business, it is important to leave a lasting impact on potential employees, clients, and colleagues. It is important to understand that even as a fashion maven, in your own right, even though you want to express yourself, you still need to come across as professional and approachable. I say this because a lot of the fashion kids are wearing torn jeans and t-shirts to interviews. True story. We have entered a new era in fashion, but we must consider that fashion is a business. And even though your own business may be running with a casual cool, you still want to be taken seriously when you’re outside of that.

Do you remember the short-lived reality tv show The City? Starring Olivia Palermo…well, either way, take style notes from this gal’s office attire.
